Direct answer
AI in an LMS usually means a tutoring or content helper that knows the current lesson. That is not the same as software that proposes marks on a handwritten answer book. Using one brand name for both jobs misleads students, examiners and search engines.
How it works
A lesson assistant should stay on-topic, respect “don’t answer the quiz” modes, and escalate to a human. An evaluation assistant should show suggested marks, reasons, and override — inside OSM.
Key considerations
- Integrity: tutoring AI that reveals exam items is a defect.
- Vendor claims about models (OpenAI/Claude/Gemini) are implementation choices, not academic accreditation.
