On-Screen Marking (OSM) is digital evaluation of scanned answer scripts. Examiners mark on screen instead of moving physical answer books, with audit trails and institutional control.

An LMS delivers courses, tracks progress, runs assessments and records completion. A university LMS also needs roles, payments and local operational constraints — not only video hosting.

What universities should require from an LMS: roles, assessment integrity, local payments, data ownership and how it differs from a generic MOOC tool.

Practical university LMS capabilities: video progress, quizzes and proctored exams, certificates, payments, white-label portal and in-lesson tutoring with academic guards.

LMS AI should be lesson-aware tutoring with integrity limits. It is not AI-assisted answer-script evaluation. Names should not be mixed.

Education ERP is operational software for admissions, students, fees, exams, HR and related campus work. It is not an LMS and not OSM, though it may connect to both.

University ERP supports multi-campus records, affiliation, COE/exam administration, research processes and accreditation workspaces — not a school diary app.

Prioritise role workspaces, SIS, affiliation, COE result processing, finance and quality cells. Treat “AI alerts” as optional, not the core.

ERP holds enrolment and result publishing. OSM holds on-screen marking. Connecting them avoids double entry and broken gazettes — without pretending ERP marks handwritten pages.

Shopify is a hosted platform with apps and recurring fees. Custom e-commerce is a purpose-built store. Neither is universally better; the decision is cost, control, and team skill.

WooCommerce is flexible but often becomes a plugin and performance project. Custom commerce avoids that stack if you will not use WordPress as a CMS anyway.

Choose custom when checkout rules, cost of apps, or performance requirements outgrow a platform. Stay on Shopify/Woo if your team ships faster there.

Growth adds catalogue, checkout experiments and operations tools. Custom commerce is one path; it is not a guarantee of growth.

Avid AI Professor suggests marks on answer scripts inside OSM. Avid AI Learning Assistant tutors inside LMS lessons. Do not use one name for both.

Human-in-the-loop means AI may suggest; a person and an institution remain responsible for recorded marks. That is a policy choice, not a slogan.

Production OSM is a script viewer plus a marks panel: page navigation, pen annotations, part-wise marks, compulsory and best-of schemes. How Avid OSM 3.0 implements that for examiners.

After private-cloud ingest, Avid OSM identifies each copy, page count and scan quality. The agency panel reviews every copy; approved packets go to examiners. University view is realtime.

Avid OSM 3.0 lets a university hide AI, offer on-demand Avid AI Professor suggestions, or run broader AI evaluation. Manual marks take priority. Full AI is a policy choice, not a default.

Avid LMS puts Avid AI Learning Assistant inside the video player with lesson, outline and progress context. Guided mode must not reveal quiz or exam answers. Admins choose OpenAI, Claude or Gemini.

Avid LMS combines white-label website CMS, OTP registration, PayU/GST commerce, faculty course builder, question bank, live proctoring controls, certificates and WhatsApp notifications.

Avid ERP gives each campus role its own workspace. School, college and university editions use different role sets (class teacher vs exam cell vs COE/affiliation). Same idea, not the same screens.
