Direct answer
An evaluation assistant is only usable in a university if it suggests per question, explains the suggestion, survives mixed scripts where supported, and loses to the examiner on submit. A single opaque total is not compatible with part-wise paper schemes or student grievances.
How it works
The model sees scanned pages and the configured scheme. Output should land in the same part-wise fields the human uses. A reason (and, where the UI provides it, page reference or confidence) lets the examiner agree or strike the suggestion. Logging the run is how you later prove AI was a participant, not a ghost.

- Bad scans make both humans and models worse; QA still comes first.

No. It provides suggested marks and reasoning; final marks remain subject to institutional/examiner review and approval.
Can it evaluate regional-language handwriting?
It can support evaluation across supported languages and scripts. Coverage for a given paper is confirmed during implementation, not advertised as every Indian script by default.
